Vintage Vertebra Chair System for Open Ark Castelli by Emilio Ambasz & Giancarlo Piretti 1976s
The design of Emilio Ambasz & Giancarlo Piretti was inspired by vertebras, and thus aiming at perfectly fitting to the movements of the body. This chair system was one of the first automatically adjustable ergonomic designs, with a reclining backrest and a sliding seat to achieve the purpose of adjusting to the needed angle. With this the Vertebra Chair System won the International Design Award for Excellence in Design in 1977s.
The chair has the original red Harris tweed upholstery in very good condition. On the underside the original maker's label is visible, also including the date of production (1976).
