Chimera Floor Lamp by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, Italy, 1969-1970
An iconic example of Italian modern design, the Chimera floor lamp was designed by Vico Magistretti for Artemide in 1969–70. This sculptural lighting piece exemplifies Magistretti’s refined approach to form, where simplicity and innovation converge.
The lamp is crafted from heat-formed opal methacrylate, creating a continuous, softly diffused illumination. Its vertical, monolithic silhouette interacts elegantly with light, offering both ambient presence and visual structure within an interior. Even when unlit, the piece retains a strong architectural character.
This example remains in very good vintage condition, preserving its original aesthetic integrity and material quality.
A timeless collectible, the Chimera is widely regarded as one of the most recognizable lighting designs of the late 20th century, suitable for both residential and professional interiors.
