Rare Pair of Japanese Imaeda Rattan Lounge Chairs 1960s
Exceptional matching pair of handcrafted rattan lounge chairs produced by Imaeda Shoten, Japan, retaining their original metal badges.
Founded in 1923, Imaeda is a small family-run workshop renowned for premium steam-bent rattan furniture. These pieces were never mass-produced but created in limited batches using traditional hand-binding techniques.
Because of this, surviving examples are increasingly scarce — and finding an original matching pair is particularly rare, making this set highly desirable for collectors and design-focused interiors.
The low seating position and circular, nest-like frame reflect traditional Japanese floor living combined with organic mid-century modern aesthetics. Lightweight yet remarkably durable, the craftsmanship is both refined and sculptural.
Placed together, the chairs create a strong architectural statement — ideal for Japandi, minimalist, wellness or high-end residential spaces.
Rare collector’s pair – offered together.
