Swiss Art Deco Wood Armchair with Brown Leather Seat, 1930s
An elegant Swiss Art Deco armchair, most likely dating from the 1930s.
The chair is distinguished by its gently curved, enveloping backrest, slender vertical splats and decorative scroll-shaped arm terminals. The contrast between the lighter and darker wood tones emphasises the architectural construction and carefully shaped details.
The subtly curved upholstered seat is covered in brown leather and finished with traditional nailhead trim. Straight front legs and gently flared rear legs create a light, well-balanced silhouette.
Compact yet visually distinctive, the chair would work well beside a desk, in an entrance hall or as an occasional armchair. Its restrained classical details allow it to sit comfortably within modern, eclectic or period interiors.
Made in Switzerland, most likely during the 1930s. No manufacturer’s label or identifying mark is present, and the maker remains unknown.
