Vintage "Tao" Hand-Assembled Glass Table Lamp – Italy, 1960s
This remarkable "Tao" table lamp is a rare example of Italian glass design from the 1960s. The spherical shade is meticulously hand-assembled from hundreds of individually mounted cast glass inserts, each secured with fine metal wire to an internal steel framework.
When illuminated, the layered glass construction creates a beautiful atmospheric glow while projecting striking patterns of light and shadow onto the surrounding walls. Thanks to its handcrafted construction, every lamp possesses a slightly unique character.
Known today on the vintage market as the "Tao Lamp," this model is widely attributed to Italian production from the 1960s.
