Free-Form Amber Art Glass Vase by Gyula Budveszel, Hungary, 1990s
A slender, sculptural studio glass vase by Hungarian master glassblower Gyula Budveszel, dating from the 1990s.
The deep amber-brown glass body rises from a rounded, drop-shaped base into a tall, subtly twisting neck, terminating in a distinctive asymmetrical, angled rim. Scattered inclusions of yellow, white, blue and green create vivid accents within the warm translucent glass. When illuminated, the vase reveals an intriguing internal landscape of colour, tiny bubbles and layered textures.
Gyula Budveszel was a Hungarian master glassblower associated with the country's tradition of handcrafted glassmaking. His artistic legacy was commemorated in 2024 with an exhibition at the Heimatmuseum in Óbánya devoted to his glasswork.
Despite its relatively compact dimensions, the vase has a distinctly sculptural presence and works beautifully as a standalone decorative object.
