Memphis Style Ceramic Vase Shell by Florio Keramia
The SHELL vase, designed by Italian artist Luciano Florio Paccagnella for Florio Kerámia in the 1990s, is a striking example of postmodern ceramic design. Its sweeping, shell-inspired silhouette, sculpted concentric curves and vivid orange glaze give the piece a distinctly architectural yet playful character.
Paccagnella studied at Milan’s Brera Academy of Fine Arts and became associated with the creative circle surrounding Ettore Sottsass and the Memphis movement. He designed the invitation for the group's inaugural exhibition in 1981.
During the 1990s, Paccagnella developed a collection of sculptural ceramics produced in Budapest with Hungarian ceramic artisans, bringing together Italian postmodern design and Hungarian craftsmanship.
With its vibrant colour and sculptural presence, SHELL is equally compelling as a functional vase or a standalone decorative object.
